watchOS 7 Key Features

Fitness

Apple has added 4 new workouts, so you can now you can track your fitness metrics for Dance, Functional Strength Training, Core Training, and even your post-workout Cooldown, which is meant to add on to your existing workout as your heart rate and breathing normalize. In addition, you can now change all of your fitness ring metrics. Previously, you were only able to change your active calorie goal for the activity ring, but now you are also able to do the same for the exercise ring and the stand ring. So, you can move your goals up or down depending on your ability to meet them.

Handwashing

Keeping your hands clean has never been more important. Your Apple Watch can now detect when you begin washing your hands and helps you keep going for the amount of time recommended by global health organizations. You will be presented with a 20 second timer and if you stop before the 20 minutes is up, your Apple Watch will encourage you to keep going for the full 20 seconds. It will also remind you to wash your hands when you get home.

Sleep

The new Sleep app doesn’t just track your sleep, it helps you create a schedule and a bedtime routine so you can meet your sleep goals. Need to wake up by 6AM, but want to get 8 hours of sleep? The new Sleep app can help you get to sleep on time and help you achieve your goal.

Blood Oxygen

With Apple Watch Series 6, the optical heart sensor has been redesigned to add blood oxygen measurement capabilities. The Blood Oxygen app on Apple Watch Series 6 allows you to measure the oxygen level of your blood, providing you with insights into your overall wellness.

Customize Activity Goals

ECG

The ECG app can record your heartbeat and rhythm using the electrical heart sensor on Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, or Series 6 and then check the recording for AFib, which is a form of irregular rhythm. You can take an ECG at any time using the ECG app, like when you’re feeling symptoms such as a rapid or skipped heartbeat or when you receive an irregular rhythm notification. The ECG results will be saved in the Health app on your iPhone and you can even share a PDF with your doctor.

Fall Detection

If Apple Watch Series 4 or later detects a hard fall while you’re wearing your Apple Watch, it will tap you on the wrist, sound an alarm, and display an alert. You can choose to contact emergency services or dismiss the alert.

Heart Rate

You can check your current heart rate any time using the Heart Rate app. Apple Watch can alert you if you have an unusually high or low heart rate or an irregular rhythm. Apple Watch can also show you your resting rate as well as your walking average.

Apple Fitness+ is a fitness service that’s powered by your Apple Watch. You can choose from a plethora of workouts led by top trainers. Metrics, such as your heart rate and calories burned, are displayed from your Apple Watch to your other compatible Apple devices, such as your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Apple Fitness+ is only $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year.
